CALL FOR ARTISTS
Hudson County Arts Annual 2008
State-Wide Show
"Human History"

The Brennan Gallery in the
Theodore Conrad Rotunda of the
Justice Brennan Court House
583 Newark Avenue
Jersey City, NJ 07306

Curated by:
Ann Aptaker, Curator of Exhibitions for the Morris Museum

"Human History" What does the phrase "Human History" mean? Does it describe a natural progression of human experience from our earliest beginnings to the present? Is it an experience shaped by environment and circumstance? Does it include a progression of experience shared by humans? Do we carry the effects and lessons of our history with us? Has our recent technological sophistication served to cut us off from our earlier identity? Are we, then creating a new history? Or is the technology creating our history for us? And how do any of these notions affect artists making art?

These are the tensions that we are asking artists to address in the Hudson County Statewide Arts Annual 2008
